Security & Data Protection
Inside Analytics (Pty) Ltd takes the security and protection of customer information seriously.
The Inside Analytics Reporting Platform is designed to handle customer account information and accounting data securely and responsibly.
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to help protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure.
1. Account Security
Customer accounts are protected using security measures designed to prevent unauthorised access.
- User passwords are stored using secure password hashing rather than in plain text.
- User access is controlled through authenticated accounts and appropriate permissions.
- Password reset processes use secure, time-limited reset tokens.
- Email verification is used as part of the account registration process.
2. Accounting System Connections
The Reporting Platform connects to supported accounting systems using the official authentication mechanisms provided by those services.
When connecting an accounting system such as Xero, authentication takes place directly with the accounting provider.
- Inside Analytics does not receive your accounting system password.
- Accounting system credentials are not stored by Inside Analytics.
- Access is granted through the accounting provider's authorised connection process.
3. Data Protection
Customer information is used to provide the Reporting Platform and the services requested by the customer.
Access to customer information is restricted to authorised systems and users who require access for legitimate operational or support purposes.
We do not sell customer information or use customer accounting information for advertising or behavioural marketing.
4. Secure Connections
The Reporting Platform uses secure encrypted connections when communicating with users and supported external services.
Customers should ensure that they use current versions of supported web browsers and maintain the security of the devices used to access their accounts.
5. Customer Responsibilities
Security is a shared responsibility. Customers are responsible for protecting their own account credentials and devices used to access the Reporting Platform.
- Keep your password confidential.
- Do not share your account credentials with other people.
- Use a strong password and change it if you believe it may have been compromised.
- Notify Inside Analytics if you become aware of suspicious activity involving your account.
6. Monitoring and Security Improvements
We continually review the security of the Reporting Platform and may introduce additional safeguards, controls or technologies as the platform develops.
Security measures may be updated from time to time to respond to changes in technology, emerging threats and operational requirements.
7. Security Incidents
If we become aware of a security incident that may materially affect customer information, we will assess the incident and take appropriate steps to contain, investigate and address it.
Where notification is required by applicable law, affected customers and the relevant authorities will be notified in accordance with those requirements.
8. Data Retention
Customer information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Reporting Platform, support its operation and meet applicable legal or operational requirements.
When customer information is no longer required, it may be removed or securely disposed of in accordance with our operational procedures and applicable requirements.
9. Questions or Security Concerns
If you have a question about the security of the Reporting Platform, or believe that your account or information may have been compromised, please contact us as soon as possible.
